Mt. Elijah hike on July 9th, 9am

On Sunday, July 9, ATA will sponsor a loop hike up Mt. Elijah and back, starting at and returning to the Sturgis Fork trailhead. It’s a beautiful hike, with amazing wildflower displays. There could still be snow on the trail; dress for cooler weather than you’re used to in the valley, but be ready to shed outerwear when the sun is hot.

This is an all-day hike. Bring plenty of water and a lunch to eat on top of Mt. Elijah. Bring a hat. The views on this hike are as spectacular as the wildflowers – the Siskiyou Crest, Mt. Shasta, and, if you’re lucky, on a good day, the ocean’s shore from the top of Mt. Elijah.

Mike Kohn will lead this hike, as the originally listed leader, Diana Coogle, has suffered a knee injury and won’t be able to make the hike. We will be leaving the Applegate Store at 9:00.

Be there early to sign in. We will car pool to the trail head. Cars need to be able to take rough roads.
