ATA Work Party, April 1 2017

THE APPLEGATE RIDGE TRAIL IS GROWING!

Construction on the East Applegate Ridge Trail began less than a week ago and this “newborn” has already grown a mile. The Applegate Trails Association invites you to join us this Saturday, April 1st, for the first of 3 work parties to help build the East ART, the first phase of our large non-motorized trail system. Your help is much needed to supplement the limited funding we have for our locally hired trail crew.

ATA will also have volunteer work parties on April 30th and May 21st. We provide tools, food and camaraderie. If you have a favorite tool, bring it. There are lighter tasks for those who are not inclined to swing a grub hoe. We meet at 8:30 am at the end of BLM road 38-2-29.1 which is off Sterling Creek Road.

Look for the signs to the trailhead 100 yards past the 4 mile marker. RSVP is appreciated (Josh; greenpathlandscape@gmail.com), but not critical.  It just helps us estimate how much food we need.

Help this baby thrive! If digging is not your thing, a donation will work just as well. We estimate it costs about $20 to build 10 feet of trail or $2 a foot. You can donate via our webpage, www.applegatetrails.org or send a check to Applegate Trails Association, PO Box 105, Jacksonville, OR 97530, and specify if it is for building the trail.

In case you missed it, here is a link to last week’s article in the Medford Mail Tribune, “A Trail is Born.”

Thank you for your support!

David Calahan, ATA Chair
